Oh Christ, I have a very real phobia of holes. Specifically small holes in the ground, but seeing that image I got chills and reading it didn't help. King's Quest VI features a living portable hole. The Hole-In-The-Wall is a creature that crawls along the wall, and its body creates a hole underneath wherever it is. Multi Dimensional Thief, a text adventure, has a portable hole allowing you to pass through many walls, as well as the ceiling and floor. However, it's incompatible with a few. These stories and ideas found across the site can be breathtaking and multilayered, but also confusing or hidden between the lines, and we want to provide an easy-to-read and interesting way for you to understand them. Our pieces - posted about every two to three days - incorporate a SparkNotes-style summary of the article, along with heavy analysis of the meaning of their plot elements or symbols. We incorporate quotes from the story, knowledge and links with all of Foundation lore, and our own educated speculation about how it all fits together to create a professionally-written, engaging, and exhaustive declassification.I want to write for the subreddit!Awesome - we'd be glad to have you. In fact, we really want you to become a writer for us. Please write for us. Apply today. We do have high standards though, just like in the wiki. If you would like to become an approved submitter, PM the mod team (THROUGH MODMAIL) an audition explanation for an SCP (or tale, or other Foundation thing) of your choosing. We'll pick it apart and offer you some tips about how to tighten that analysis up, then when we consider it suitably refined, we'll add you and you can submit!Once you reach five successful articles on the subreddit, you no longer are obligated to get your articles pre-approved. Jul 18, 2018 - When played: Gain a random card from the 'Pile Of Containment'. I'M TRYING TO SPREAD THIS COMIC SO MANY SCP FANS OUT THERE CAN FIND IT! Comic: Oversimplified SCP Author/Writer: 松(A・TYPEcorp.). Oversimplified SCP Chapter 36 - 'SCP-1162 A Hole in the Wall. ![]() Author: Communism will winThis is sort of a sequel to my previous declassification on SCP-3021. I saw people discussing the connection between the two articles in the comment section of that declassification, and got inspired to write this one. It's going to be longer and more complicated than the previous one, so strap in.Anomaly Class: SafeThis SCP has the Safe classification, meaning it can be easily and reliably contained, and poses little threat to the Foundation.Special Containment Procedures: The building containing SCP-2122 has been acquired by the Foundation and designated Site-48. Use of SCP-2122 has been discontinued. Access to SCP-2122 is denied to all personnel outside of regular maintenance of SCP-2122-1.The Special Containment Procedures tell us that the Foundation acquired the building containing the anomaly and made it into a site, that usage of the anomaly has been discontinued, and that no one is allowed in except to perform maintenance on SCP-2122-1, which we will learn about in a little bit. These are all lies, as we will discover later, but for now, let's move on.Description: SCP-2122 is an interrogation room at Site-48, formerly REDACTED. Several anomalous electronic devices, collectively designated SCP-2122-1, are integrated into the room:This tells us that the anomaly is an interrogation room, and that the aforementioned SCP-2122-1 are electronic devices in the room.SCP-2122-1-A is a fluorescent light fixture attached to SCP-2122's ceiling. Most personnel report a strong aversion to looking directly at SCP-2122-1-A, even under duress, though this has not been replicated in tests with D-Class subjects.SCP-2122-1-B is an LED message board, measuring 0.5m x 0.4m, attached to the wall of SCP-2122. When active, the device shows the official Foundation insignia. Attempts to alter this display without damaging the device have failed.SCP-2122-1-C is a 2.3m x 1.0m x 0.7m device located underneath the table in the middle of SCP-2122. Extensive analysis has failed to identify its purpose or means of operation. Despite consuming 80kW of power when active, the object does not produce heat or sound.SCP-2122-1-D is a pair of headphones of apparently unique manufacture, attached to SCP-2122-1-C via power cord. SCP-2122-1-D lacks any means by which audio input can be provided; however, SCP-2122-1-D produces heavily distorted audio at low volume when active. The first device is a fluorescent light fixture on the ceiling. Most personnel display a strong aversion to looking directly at it, but they can't replicate this effect with D-Class. Strange. The second device is an LED message board on the wall that, when turned on, displays the official Foundation logo. But that doesn't make any sense. If the Foundation acquired the site the room is in from someone else, why would the device display their logo? Unless, of course, they created the room themselves, and merely pretended to acquire it from someone else in order to cover up their tracks. The third device is under the table and, despite using a fair amount of power, does not produce any heat or sound. We don't know what purpose it serves, or how to operate it.The fourth and final device is a pair of headphones that appear to be drawing power from the third device. Scp 178They produce heavily distorted audio at a low volume. Again, we don't know what purpose this serves.SCP-2122's primary anomalous properties will activate when exactly two individuals are present, the door is closed, and SCP-2122-1 is powered and operational. One individual (hereby designated 'the interrogator') must be in the employ of a sufficiently powerful organization who is making use of SCP-2122 in the course of their occupation; the other individual (hereby 'the interrogatee') must not be using SCP-2122 in the course of their occupation. When power is supplied to the devices in the room and two people are present, the anomalous properties of the room manifest. The two people must meet certain criteria. One (the interrogator) must be the employee of a sufficiently powerful organization who is using the room during their work, and the other (the interrogatee) must not be using the room during their work. There's a footnote here that states that examples of sufficiently powerful organizations include the Foundation, as well as other organizations whose names are expunged. This is another lie. While it is true that employees of the Foundation can fulfill the role of interrogator, that's not because the Foundation is a powerful organization, that's because the room was designed for use by Foundation employees. There are no other organizations that can use the room, the Foundation is just saying there are to make it look like they didn't have anything to do with the room's creation. When active, SCP-2122 becomes completely impenetrable to all physical force, radiation, sound, etc. From both the inside and outside, such that observation and intrusion are impossible until the interrogator chooses to open the door. The interrogator will become capable of conscious reality alteration within the confines of SCP-2122, so long as SCP-2122-1 remains operational and the interrogatee is alive. The nature of the alterations that may be performed is limited only by the interrogator's knowledge and imagination, as well as an inability to make SCP-2122's interior larger. While the room is active, it cannot be observed or entered from the outside until the interrogator opens the door, meaning the interrogatee is trapped in the room with the interrogator until the interrogator decides to let them out. The interrogator also gains the ability to alter reality within the room, only restricted by their knowledge, imagination, and a lack of ability to expand the room itself. They lose these abilities when the room becomes inactive or when the interrogatee dies. The extent of the interrogator's reality bending capacity within SCP-2122 is limited by any form of accountability for actions performed in SCP-2122. This includes the actions in question being subject to official review, public opinion, and any other responsibility for the consequences of the actions. The presence of any sort of active recording device also hinders these capabilities. The prerogative to achieve certain goals only bears on the interrogator's abilities insofar as they prescribe a particular course of action. This is an important detail. If the interrogator can be held accountable for their actions inside the room, their abilities are limited. This limiting effect also occurs if there is any sort of recording device in the room. This was a deliberate choice by the Foundation. ![]() Because of this limitation, the room can only be used for what they want it to be used for. Any attempt to use the room for things they don't want it to be used for will result in the abilities of the interrogator being severely limited, making it much more difficult for them to accomplish their goal. A very good declassification, yet there's one aspect that i disagree with. I don't read it as so much the Foundation trying to 'cover up' the room. That makes it sound too much like it's an embarrassment, or something they disagree with. Rather, i believe that they are instead obfuscating the object so as to remove it from as much oversight as possible while still maintaining control. The point was made that any kind of accountability, and therefore oversight, places restrictions on the abilities of the interrogator and upon the control exertable upon the interrogatee. The more information is available about the room and activities surrounding it, the more accountability it incurs. And it's possible that there's a retroactive component to the behavior, such that the -2s conditioning could break down as accountability regarding their conditioning increases, hence the lack of information about former interrogatees. I have to disagree. When the article says that the interrogators are limited by accountability, it's referring to accountability for actions taken in the room, not the room itself. If a researcher who's given as much information as we are figures out what's really going on, it won't limit the abilities of interrogators because even though he knows what the Foundation is using it for, he doesn't know what each individual interrogator does during sessions. The Foundation tells the interrogators what to do, but there's no way of knowing for sure if they'll actually do it, the Foundation just has to trust that they will. That's likely why one of the side effects of being an interrogator is increased loyalty to the Foundation; the Foundation needs interrogators who will do what they say without being monitored or else the whole system falls apart. I don't mean to imply that knowledge of the room itself increases accountability. Rather, my thinking is that the more people who know about the room, the more they can ask questions, demand oversight, and pass judgement. The information doesn't translate to accountability, but it does invite it. If the room is just another safe-class SCP, locked away and never used, then there's no need for much oversight. If it's an active program creating loyal Foundation personnel and enhanced soldiers, well, that's typically the type of thing that bureaucracy likes to ensnare in paperwork, management, and evaluations. And that would wreck the system. So, officially, it's mothballed. It is better not to wait for you to be found, but to find yourself.ControlWASD for movementBeat or shoot at left click Change weapons – 1 or 2Hide weapons – 3 or E.Recharge – R.Take the item – F.Stop taking medication or adrenaline – X. So hunting for others in Survivo is not very profitable. I’m not sure if I get why they are hiding a lot of truth about the room. But thanks for this. If I read it on my own, I’d likely have just took it at face value and missed a lot about it.Why is it called Black Hole? Also an oddity but likely doesn’t mean much: Usually it’s written as Object Class, but this one is Anomaly Class. Are they interrogating their victims and also changing them to super soldiers at the same time? Sounds like if you don’t get the info you want in time, you have to abort and quickly get out of there.:p. I think the reason they're hiding info about it is because if an interrogator found out what was really going on, they could sabotage the operation. Remember, due to the limiting effects of accountability, the Foundation can't actually monitor the inside of the room during interrogations, meaning they have to trust the interrogators to do what they want. If they don't the whole operation falls apart.I don't know why it's called The Black Hole, but my best guess is that it has to do with there being no way to actually tell what happens during interrogations. The author has stated that the reason they used Anomaly Class is because it's more universal; it applies to more than just objects. Hole In The Wall RestaurantIf I felt it was important, I would have mentioned it.I imagine they don't use the headphones during interrogations, and have special sessions where they convert people into super soldiers.
